The Year of the Tiger is upon us (2010), and Toraya will be holding a themed exhibition to celebrate.

Exhibition of Children and Confectionery- at Toraya Gallery

Children throughout the ages love sweets. This latest exhibition from
Toraya introduces a variety of confectionery enjoyed by children mainly
during the period from the Edo to the Taisho eras (1603 - 1926).
Exhibits include snacks sold at dagashiya stores and ennichi festivals of temples/shrines, issho-mochi (mochi weighing issho that is approximately 2kg)
prepared on a child's first birthday to pray for his/her healthy growth, and kashiwa-mochi(mochi wrapped in oak leaves)
prepared on Tango no Sekku Children's Day celebrated on May 5th.
